Introduction¶
How can GenAI help someone like a Solution Architect?¶
Over the last year or so I have been very curious about how AI, specifically GenAI, worked, and more importantly what it could do to improve the day to day job of a Solution Architect. However, I never had the time or bandwidth to explore this.
Retirement has provided the opportunity, and time, for me to journey deeper into this to learn more about it, and examine how GenAI can really be applied to do more than helping to capture meeting notes.
Key questions I've explored:
- Can GenAI truly understand the nuances of a simple architecture diagram and translate it into both functional code and comprehensive documentation?
- How specific do I need to be in the
Prompts
? - What happens if I engage in multiple prompts to provide a broad set of information in a "dialog" with GenAI? What can I learn?
- If I do this, do I get better results? How much does it remember as I have the "dialog"?
- Just how little information can I get away with providing? Can a mere whiteboard sketch or even a cocktail napkin drawing be enough to spark GenAI's creative assistance?
The material in this section of this site reflects my ongoing thinking, and more importantly learnings as I explore the use of GenAI to serve as an Assistant to a Solution Architect.
You will also find that I’ve leveraged the capabilities of GenAI, specifically Google Gemini, on other sections of this site to add supporting text to the pictures I had previously created, but failed to have the time to write the supporting text. See the “Patterns” and “Cross Cloud Notes” sections for examples of this.
I'm just beginning this journey to exercise my curiousity and I'll continue to capture thoughts, learnings, etc... .
